The Harvest festival took place on Sunday 4th October to a packed church full of people from our local community. We were joined by pupils from our three church schools. Pupils from Years 1 and 2 at Boyne Hill Infant School sang two Harvest songs; the Eco team from All Saints Junior School gave an informative talk about Fairtrade; the choir was augmented by several Altwood pupils. Thanks to all those who took part and the parents, carers and grandparents who joined them for the service.
The Fairtrade theme continued, as Fairtrade fortnight drew to a close with the draw for our raffle basket of Fairtrade goods. This raised over £250 for the Fairtrade Foundation.
Our traditional Harvest auction, with Fr Jeremy as auctioneer, took place after the service while we all enjoyed tea, coffee and a lovely spread of cold snacks and cakes. This fun event raised £370, which will be split among the church schools to spend on environmental projects.
