Space For God on Thursday
In our busy lives it can sometimes be difficult to make Space for God.
Why not join us for one of our Thursday evening Space for God services from 7pm to 7.30 pm.
Each month (excl holiday seasons) we’ll be using a different style of worship which we hope will offer you the opportunity to find Space for God.
We learn to reflect quietly on a series of events of our Lord's earthly and Risen Life, with the aid of short bible readings. The time of reflection is accompanied by prayer for our Church and Parish, including those who are sick or in times of especial need.
Taize is an ecumenical monastic order which has become an important pilgrimage site. The simple repetitive chants allow people to join in quickly regardless of language, focusing their prayers and creating a quiet, reflective atmosphere.
The lighting of tea-light candles adds to the peaceful ambiance created by Taize.
At this act of worship we gather in a quiet and reflective space which is separate from the busy, hectic lives we lead. We come to meet Jesus who wants to be with us. We silently adore Jesus Christ, truly divine and truly human, present for us in the consecrated bread of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Let us bring all our needs to our Lord at this simple act of worship.
At this monthly service we will celebrate the Eucharist simply and with an atmosphere of mystery and expectation. The Eucharist is at the heart of our faith as we come together to share in the communion with God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit and with each other. Henri De Lubac is quoted as saying 'We partake of the Body of Christ to become the Body of Christ”.
Dwelling in the Word/Art
We use a Bible passage to listen to each other and discern what God is up to amongst us. In many ways this is similar to lectio divina; it allows us to listen to scripture, to each other and to God. Art is also often used to illustrate and aid discernment.
We look forward to you joining us for any of these services. Please see our pew-sheets for further information; alternatively keep looking at our website allsaintsboynehill.org.uk
